Infant Program (Pink Room)

About Pink Room

Ages Six Weeks-12 Months

Pink Room is primarily for infants from six weeks to 12 months. The room focuses on caregiving and respect for our youngest students. We teach baby signs and use a philosophy by Magda Gerber, an early childhood educator, known for teaching parents and caregivers how to understand babies and interact with them respectfully from birth! Our goal is to teach basic trust and independence, while involving the infant in all care activities and providing sensitive observation all of the time.

Pink Room teachers begin to introduce Baby Signs to aid in communication between all caregivers and children. They also encourage vocabulary and early literacy by reading books throughout the day and singing songs.

We use a 1:4 teacher-child ratio and incorporate primary care groups to encourage bonding and nurturing of each infant! With primary care groups, each teacher has a set group of up to four children that they primarily care for. This set up allows Pink Room to follow a schedule based on each child’s unique needs. Your primary care teacher will also be your main point of contact regarding your child’s development and daily needs. They will learn your child’s likes, dislikes, and schedule in and out while providing plenty of free exploration inside and outside.

Children will transition to Orange Room based on availability and the development of each child, not necessarily at their first birthday.
